Future NEWS Anchors?

The South Elementary Channel Six Super School News team included anchors Ashleigh and Hector; and, reporters Gage, Galilea, Raymond and Jake. Stories reflected the life of South Elementary. The broadcast aired in October on Channel Six. The team was asked to present again for the school board in April. Way to go news team. We're proud of the way you represented our school.

Are YOU Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?
South fifth graders hosted the annual event, grilling teachers and students alike.  South principal, Mrs. Collins, was forced to admit that she was not smarter than a South fifth grader.
Character Counts!
Mrs. Collins awarded students for being Kids with Character at our annual awards ceremony.  Students were recognized for following the Pillars of Character throughout the year.
Field Day
South students and staff enjoyed a day of outdoor activities based on children's books.  Thanks to our gym teacher, Mrs. Evans, for her creativity and hard work

South Third Graders Strong on CSAP

Congratulations to our South third grade students and teachers for the strong reading CSAP scores.

89% of our English Language Learners scored proficient or advanced, beating the state average by 30 percentage points and the district average by 9 percentage points.

83% of our South students (non-English Language Learners) scored proficient or advanced, beating the state average by 13 percentage points and the district average by 18 percentage points.

Thank you to our hard-working staff and to our parents for all their support. You make a difference!

International Festival of Flavor
Second graders from Mrs. Trunkenbolz' class celebrated 'International Day.'  Students prepared tasty dishes of family heritage from all over the world to share with parents and classmates.
